Last night my man Yeezus appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to end their beef over Kimmel’s spoof of the interview Kanye did what BBC Radio 1. Now, before you proceed I just want to say that if you are a insecure hater, then you can just stop reading right here and go about your business.
So let met explain the situation for a bit (in case you’ve been livin’ under a rock for the past weeks). Mr. West did an interview with BBC Radio 1 and it was as real as it gets. It was raw, uncensored, honest… Like, I loved it! I felt like I understood ‘Ye, his album and where he was coming from so much more. Any fool who would listen without any type of prejudice would too. But of course people have to mock Kanye West. In that fashion Jimmy Kimmel made a spoof which (in my opinion) was supposed to make ‘Ye look like a fool, but… well.. see for yourself first if you haven’t yet.
It wasn’t even funny! Shit. was not. even. funny!! Like, seriously?! It is funny though, because this little video perfectly illustrates how the media takes shit out of context for the sake of extra views and clicks. And it’s so shady (I realise that I sound like I’m quoting Kanye hahah, but honestly I told people this even before he did the Kimmel appearance). E!news did a short item on it and took 2 parts, played them over and over, each time zooming in more on his face, and edited a dramatic music to support their whole story. Horrible. Absolutely scandalous how they handled that.
I stayed up every night till about 3 or to wait for the next part of the interview to drop, so I wouldn’t miss a thing. I was hooked. I will not even get into all the things he is right about, but I just wanted to talk about this one little fact just for a sec.:
“[Me and Virgil Abloh] brought the leather jogging pants six years ago to Fendi and they said no. How many motherf*ckers you done seen with the leather jogging pants?
This shit right here is just frustrating to hear. Shit, I would make an aggressive album too if shit like this happened to me ( I’m a fan and I would love to just talk to Kanye and hear his perspectives on things, but honestly I’m a little scared though hahaha. Nigga was scary at some parts). I love the hypocrisy of fashion. Let me give you another example of this. Rick Owens puts on a show with people steppin’. I’m gonna go ahead and say that if Kanye or Diddy or anyone else who is a part of that culture, yet still makes high end fashion that goes beyond those urban and Hip Hop borders, would have done that, no one would have taken it serious. It wouldn’t have been considered fashion at all. But of course once it’s taken out of context by someone who is not of that culture, then suddenly he’s referencing this and that and in touch with the zeitgeist. I hate to break it to you, but steppin’ is not hot anymore. I can’t even count the number of Indie and commercial step movies I’ve seen already. That boat has sailed a long time ago. 4 real though.
I think it was a real good move from both gentlemen to do this interview after that twitter beef they had going on. And I’m happy that Jimmy admitted to not even having seen the entire interview before making the spoof, because that is what the entire world did, they ridiculed something they hadn’t even seen #SMH. But it’s all good now, so let’s just move on and leave this in the past.
P.S.: Jimmy Kimmel talking about how inconvenient leather jogging pants are, now that is is something to mock. You don’t actually go jogging in them (DUUHHHH). It simply elevates your whole casual look to that next fashion level, ya digg?
Without a doubt you have caught some air of the entire world making fun of Kanye West’s interview with BBC Radio 1. The spoof made by Jimmy Kimmel of course had a very big play in this. If you haven’t seen it yet,
