Sooo.. In case you didn't know, I'm kind of having the time of my life right now at my internship. God, it should be illegal, really (I already feel that not-wanting-to-go-back-to-AMFI-feeling creepin' up on me). But anyways I've been doing some really fun stuff and I thought I'd update you. So basically in my third week we already took a little trip to Düsseldorf, where we had our own stand at GDS international event for Shoes & Accessories (Our car was so packed, that I literally had to sit with my suitcase on me legs the whole drive from Waalwijk to Dusseldorf. Thank the lord it wasn't heavy, cuz I'm known to carry heavy luggage (#blameitonthemagazines).
Of course I've been to trade shows before (stop frontin' DIVO, you've been to Modefabriek. Twice), but this was an entirely new experience. Normally I'm just a visitor and most people don't even give you the time of day, but this time I went as an exhibitor #awesome #sodope. Like, a purpose and a "hombebase", if you will.
This place was HUGE! I couldn't believe how many halls of shoes and bags there were. Some brands had crazy stands, while others clearly don't really understand what branding can do for them. There was this pretentious "white cubes" hall, where only the "high rollers" could go. I got to borrow the press card from a friend of my boss' to go there, but to be honest, I wasn't impressed. Okay United Nude was kind of cool, but honestly them and all the others did NOT need their own little section #realtalk.
Right behind our stand was Design Attack. It's basically like this "big market" with a lot of small stands from upcoming designers and small brands and stuff. This was basically the coolest place in all the mayhem. Apperently this place always has a theme and this time it was the navy/marine. They had a whole show and everything there, but all I remember is meeting the dopest girl ever there; Ebru Özyürek (I'm telling you, I have a thing for these Arabian girls. Especially Turkish). Guess what her business card says; creative inspector. OMG, like, that is soooo ill. When I first read it, I couldn't believe how original and epic that was. And it's so spot on, because she is a designer, a customizer, a stylist, a visual artist and so on, so she can't really pin herself down to one thing. She had this bag, which was BEYOND! BEYOND, I'm telling you. And she took my picture with it. So dope. It's so DIVO, look at all the colours and the spirit and look of it. Basically what I want to say is that you should go to her website and follow her, because this girl is going places (literally) and her ish is CRA-zy dope!
I decided that since I have so much to tell, I'll spread it out over 2 posts. And I really wanted to end with this picture of me with the bag from Visionairy Eyecatcha. Peace!
P.S.: I forgot to tell you that we were there with a preview of the exhibition 'Watch our Steps' we're doing during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven. I'll tell you about that later.
